For Fashion Revolution Week 2022, I sat down with Lizzie from Live Frankly to unpack the importance of transparency in the fashion industry.
Not to be confused with see-through fabrics, transparency relates to how much a brand or manufacturer shares about how they make their product. In the interview, I explain how it is "a powerful tool in protecting workers and the environment. Where consumers are demanding transparency, it’s a lot harder for brands to get away with cutting corners.”
Which is why most fashion brands still avoid it.
But, we love transparency at Brothers We Stand.
It's the basis of our product footprints: giving you all the information you need to make informed decisions about the clothes you buy.
During the interview, Lizzie and I discussed its benefits and limitations, and how you can spot the fakers. Unfortunately, there’s still a lot of them, but the tables are turning. Governments are tracking down greenwashers, and customers are learning how to spot them. Transparency is starting to become an expectation rather than an exception. And, when it does, we can ensure the workers and natural world that make our clothes are protected and dignified. That’s what we’re aiming for at Brothers We Stand.
