People
Brava’s supplier Blau Artic is based in Mataró, next to Barcelona. Blau Artic works with a number of smaller workshops in and around Mataró to produce Brava’s shirts. These workshops are visited daily during production by Blau Artic’s team. Brava has also visited a number of the workshops and found them to be good places.
Brava has drawn up a code of conduct based on the labour principles set out by WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production). Brava sends this document to all their cut and sew factories to sign and follow it. This code covers matters of fair wages, chosen, adult labour, a safe working environment, the freedom to unions and collective bargaining, reasonable working hours, no discrimination, harassment or abuse, environmentally conscious practises, adherence to national laws and custom laws.
Planet
EcoVero™ is a fabric made from renewable wood sources using a process that is held to high environmental standards. CO2 emissions are reported to be 50% lower compared to generic viscose and calculated using the Higg Materials Sustainability Index. (LENZING) The fabric is made by LENZING™, a leading innovator in sustainable fabric manufacturing.
All of Brava's cut and sew and fabric processing factories are based in Europe, they are obligated to follow the EU laws on chemical and colour handling and methods, and the discarding of chemicals and dyes.
Areas for development
Brava’s supplier Blau Artic has long term relationships with the local workshops they partner with and visit them daily during production. A next step could be sharing publicly, for example on their website, specific ethical standards they require these workshops to meet.
